Upon graduation, she worked in medicine at Dalhousie University’s Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, followed by the psychology departments of the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Hospital and the Nova Scotia Hospital for Mental Health. She then embarked on a career with the Correctional Service of Canada, primarily as a federal correctional officer, and during this time returned to academia to complete a second Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Acadia University.
Tammy has been registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology since 2018 and served on the Executive of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia from 2020-2024. As well, she is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). She began working in private practice in 2018 to focus her assessment and treatment services on trauma-related difficulties and associated sequelae. While she serves all populations, her current clientele largely consists of military and other first responder populations.
Tammy is a former federal Correctional Officer and first responder. As such, she brings first-hand knowledge to navigating traumatic experiences. Further, her experience with governmental processes enables her to understand the other factors that can influence recovery from employment-related traumas. Tammy’s background has provided her with extensive knowledge of the elements of workplace burnout, moral injury, and other common difficulties experienced among first responder populations.

Tammy believes in ongoing training and education to augment her skill set to serve her client’s needs. While remaining within an evidence-based framework, she continues to grow her breadth and depth of skills to be able to offer the best therapeutic techniques within her practice.
